CQC ( Formerly MHAC)
In 2000, Yacc Labs helped the CQC design, build and install their new office network. This was to co-exist with their existing serial based Unix/Informix database. Part of this project involved working with BT Syntegra to connect the Commission to NHSNet and to configure MS Exchange and X400, enabling the widespread use of e-mail within the organisation for the first time. Yacc Labs installed and configured the new IP based network including DNS and DHCP to ease the administration workload together with configuring users into the new NT Domain.
Since that time, Yacc Labs has provided the Commission with IT consultancy and support for their network, office based applications and also various MS Access databases. We also developed an interim Visual Basic/Access application for one of their main workstreams.
In 2002, Yacc Labs won the contract to develop a fully integrated Management Information System. This involved analysing their existing four systems, a mixture of Informix and Access databases, and designing a new MS SQL Server based application to link all four main workstreams together in an efficient and accessible way. Utilising modern technologies, including ASP and Visual Basic, the modules were developed and delivered over a phased timetable and have enabled the Commission to provide their customers with a highly efficient and accurate service.
Family Health Service Appeal Unit (FHSAU)
In 1991, Yacc Labs were chosen by the Family Health Service Appeal Unit (FHSAU) to develop and supply a Case Management System. Using Informix and Interactive Unix on an Intel platform the system was successfully installed and is still running to this day. Since 1991, Yacc Labs has worked closely with FHSAA in a supporting role, helping them to develop and grow their IT infrastructure to what is today a fast and efficient Windows 2000 based office system. We have also helped the Authority connect to NHSNet and have worked on numerous MS Access and reporting applications.
In 2001, Yacc Labs won the contract to redevelop the original Case system using MS SQL Server and Visual Basic and integrate this into their Active Directory investment. The success of this project, together with our help in maintaining the network infrastructure and providing general consultancy services, has enabled the FHSAA to expand its IT capabilities and develop their core activities further, by incorporating new workstreams into their generic case management system with no additional expenditure, thus providing a highly efficient service for their stakeholders.
